Analysis of the Impact of Social Media on the Mental Health of Generation Z: Psychological, Technological, and Educational Perspectives

This research analyzes the impact of social media on Generation Z’s mental health through the lens of psychology, technology, and education. The study addresses the growing concern that prolonged and intensive use of social media contributes to stress, anxiety, and reduced social interaction. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining surveys and in-depth interviews with 250 university students in Indonesia. Results reveal both positive and negative implications: while social media supports self-expression, networking, and learning, it also increases risks of cyberbullying, sleep disturbance, and fear of missing out (FOMO). This study provides an interdisciplinary perspective, offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and mental health practitioners.
